All the
Beautiful Things
A young blogger, Amelia Rothchild, exploring the southern backroads becomes intrigued by the grave of a young woman who died in the 1960s. The woman tending the grave tells her the story of the young woman, Mary Jo Bonner and Laura Kathryn Fitzpatrick, the young girl who witnessed her murder and was sworn to secrecy by the murderer, a prominent judge. With only her word against the killer's, Laura Kathryn sets out on a journey to find the body of the missing girl that leads her into a world of secrets and lies. As Laura Kathryn peels back the layers of her beautiful, secure world, she realizes that nothing is as it seems.
Set against the backdrop of the 1960s, the experiences of Laura Kathryn and her family mirror the seminal experiences of the country from the jarring loss of innocence with the presidential assassination to the unrest and beginnings of change with the Civil Rights movement. Laura Kathryn sees her way of life challenged and her secure world give way to change and ultimately transformation. As Laura Kathryn finds her voice, her loss of innocence is replaced with a deeper understanding of truth, honesty, love, and the bonds of family.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: LUCY RIDOLPHI

Lucy Ridolphi’s debut book, All the Beautiful Things, was inspired by growing up in the 1960s in Montgomery, Alabama. It was a time of sweeping change in the country, and Montgomery, the birthplace of the Civil Rights movement, was no exception. From an early age, Lucy loved reading and writing. Her love of storytelling led Lucy to an interest in film and screenwriting, and she had two screenplays placed in the Academy of Motion Picture’s Arts and Sciences Nicholls Fellowships.
She became involved in the Sundance Film Festival, first as a volunteer, then as a Filmmaker Liaison, and then eventually as the Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Sundance Resort. While working at Sundance, she was inspired by the myriad of authors featured at Sundance’s Tree Room Author Series and longed to immerse herself in that kind of literary project. So, she returned to her Alabama roots and discovered her voice as an author. The result is All the Beautiful Things, a coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of the turbulent 1960s, where a young girl must choose whether to bring a prominent judge to justice for murder or to stay true to his family in order to keep the love of his son.
